RAP Midyear Demofest 2013
The Reading Association of the Philippines (RAP) cordially invites you to attend the National Midyear Demofest with the theme: “Culture, Literacy and Technology: From Local to Global Classrooms” on September 12-14, 2013 at the Dynasty Court Hotel, Tiano corner Hayes Streets, Cagayan de Oro City. Its main objective is to enable participants to use appropriate materials and effective methods to make the teaching of literacy more responsive to the needs of diverse learners and the changing times.
The event aims to gather kindergarten, elementary and secondary school teachers from the public and private schools, pre-service teachers, administrators, supervisors, language specialists and researchers. The featured speakers include Dr. William H. Teale of the International Reading Association, Linda Warfel of Scholastic Asia and Fr. Stephen Cuyos, MSC of the Communication Foundation for Asia among others.
The registration fees are:
Early Registrants (before Aug. 16, 2013)/ RAP Members/ public school teachers Php 4,000.00
Registrants from August 17 - September 2, 2013 (Non-RAP members) PhP 4,500.00
Walk-in registrants on September 12, 2013 (Non-RAP members) Php 5,000.00

RAP National Convention Advisory
Dear Fellow RAP members,
The Reading Association of the Philippines (RAP) Annual National Convention originally scheduled on August 9-11, 2012 at the Century Park Hotel in Malate, Manila as announced in the DepEd Advisory no. 331-s.-2012 and the CHED Chairperson’s Memo dated 18 June 2012, has been postponed because of the prevailing weather and flooding conditions affecting our country and the possible dangers these pose on the safety of RAP members and conference participants who will be traveling to attend the convention. The new dates will be announced later.

RAP Annual National Convention 2012
Dear Literacy Advocates, Fellow Educators and Teachers:
The Reading Association of the Philippines (RAP) is pleased to announce its Annual National Convention 2012 with the theme, “Literacy and the K-12 Curriculum”, to be held at the Century Park Hotel in Malate, Manila, on August 9-11, 2012. It will be a gathering of reading teachers, professors, and specialists in Filipino and English, literacy advocates and researchers to be updated on trends in literacy instruction in the context of the new curriculum. The theme will focus on five related strands, namely: Early Literacy in the K-12 Curriculum; Content Literacy in the First and Second Languages; Technology Literacy in the K-12 Curriculum; Assessment of Reading in the K-12 Curriculum; and Implications of the K-12 Curriculum on Teacher Education and Development. In this connection, we invite you to participate in this timely event as our schools nationwide embark on a new basic education curriculum that responds to 21st century demands.

RAP DEMOFEST 2011
The Reading Association of the Philippines (RAP) is pleased to announce its Midyear Demofest 2011 to be held in Top Plaza Hotel, Echaves St. cor. Quezon Avenue, Dipolog City, Zamboanga Del Norte, Mindanao on November 13 (Sunday), 14 (Monday), and 15 (Tuesday), 2011. This demonstration festival is on the theme: Reading Rizal: Pagsulong sa Kanyang Adhikain sa Konektadong Daigdig. Historian, writer, columnist and former Chairman of the National Historical Commission, Prof. Ambeth Ocampo will serve as this year’s featured speaker. Noted local and international experts and specialists on reading, reading education, technology and Rizaliana will also be featured during plenary sessions.

2011 National Convention Invitation
Dear Literacy Advocates,
We celebrate this year the sesquicentennial of our national hero’s birth and the silver anniversary of the EDSA People Power Revolution. It is a good opportunity to highlight the role of reading in our lives as individuals and as a people, especially as we continuously work towards preserving our cultural heritage and becoming a nation of readers.
Thus, the Reading Association of the Philippines (RAP) is pleased to invite you to its Annual National Convention to be held at 1118 Bayview Park Hotel, Roxas Boulevard, corner United Nations Avenue, Manila on April 6 to 8, 2011. It will be a gathering of reading teachers, professors, and specialists in Filipino and English, focusing on the theme “Literacy through the Ages”. The convention aims to be an avenue for sharing best practices and research on literacy in relation to the following strands: Reading Ages and Reading Development; Socio-Historical Ages and Literacy Contexts; Technological Ages: How Technology Changes Literacy and Literacy Behavior; and Ages of the Reading Teacher Professional Development : From Novice to Expert.
Plenary speakers include International Reading Association (IRA) Board Member Dr. Maryann Manning; former Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization (SEAMEO) Regional Language Center (RELC) – Singapore Language Specialist Dr. Melchor Tatlonghari; internationally published historian Dr. Ma. Serena Diokno, and British Council Philippines Program Manager Mr. Jansen Mayor. Concurrent session presenters include specialists from the University of the Philippines, Ateneo De Manila University, De La Salle University, and Philippine Normal University; Palanca award winning writers; and teachers from both public and private schools.
