Guidelines for the RAP@50 Awards

About the Awards
It’s RAP’s 50th birthday!

RAP (Reading Association of the Philippines) has always been at the forefront of efforts to promote literacy nationwide thru teacher-training seminars, workshops and conventions. As part of its golden anniversary celebration with the theme, “20/20 Vision: A Nation of Readers,” RAP seeks to award organizations, institutions and individuals that have made major impact on improving our nation’s literacy at the local, national or international level.

There will be ten awardees. The Final Board of Judges may elect not to give out all awards if the candidates fall short of the standards set by the Board. The decision of the Board of Judges is final. The Board reserves the right to withdraw any award at any time, if necessary.

Who are eligible for the Award?
Individuals or groups who have shown exemplary accomplishments in any of the following areas may be nominated: (1) direct teaching at any level; (2) organizing local literacy programs; (3) promoting public relative to enhancing literacy ; (4) producing teaching materials, children’s literature and multimedia; (5) conducting research on literacy; (6) conducting special surveys of importance to literacy planning; (7) encouraging young people to participate in literacy activities; (8) conducting informal educational activities of social, cultural, economic or political nature in which literacy activities are included (radio and television programs, websites, publications and press, library programs, critical attempts to correct media malpractices and projects for special populations such as handicapped and the aged).

Who are NOT qualified?
1. Persons who are holding the following academic positions even if they have teaching loads: school presidents, chancellors, vice-chancellors, school owners, vice presidents, assistant vice-presidents, supervisors, principals.
2. Previous awardees or previous nominees who have become finalists.
3. Spouses or first degree relatives of officers of the RAP Board and the Awards Committee ;
4. Persons who have been suspended or reprimanded or have been sanctioned for violation of administrative policies, rules and regulations.

Who can nominate?
1. Principals, head teachers or school heads.
2. For DepEd schools without school heads, the teacher-in-charge can nominate but school superintendent should endorse the nomination.
3. If the nominee is the head teacher or teacher-in-charge himself/herself, any of the division supervisors can endorse the nomination.
4. Any of the local government officials in the community
5. Any NGO head serving a community;
6. Colleague/friend of the nominee.

Whereto get the nomination form?
Nomination forms are available at the DepEd division/regional offices. It can also be downloaded from the RAP website rap.org.ph.

What are the prizes at stake?
1. Plaque of Recognition;
2. Presence at the Awarding Ceremony on April 22, 2020 at the Manila Hotel;
3. Inclusion of photo and write-up in the RAP@50 Souvenir Program

What should be remembered in filling out the Nomination Form?
1. Read and follow instructions carefully and strictly;
2. Avoid skipping portions. As much as possible fill in all spaces provided for in the form;

What documents should accompany the Nomination Form?
1. Attach the endorsement written by the nominator;
2. Attach photocopies of citations, photos, etc. to support claims of achievements.

How to file the nomination form with supporting documents?
1. Send them by mail or courier to: Ms. Aurora Zenaida Lourdes C. Sicat, Saint Pedro Poveda College, EDSA Corner P. Poveda Street, Barangay Ugong Norte, Quezon City
2. Send them to the RAP Awards email: rapliteracyawards2020@gmail.com.

Deadline of nominations will be on December 31, 2019.
