49th RAP National Demofest
“Multiple Literacies: Empowering Learners for the Future”

RAP’s annual demofest is a showcase of demonstrations of best instructional practices and as such we invite lesson plan submissions and poster presentation from various disciplines that address the theme “Multiple Literacies: Empowering Learners for the Future.” The plethora of information that the present generation of learners deal with requires an understanding of the different literacies that they need to possess in order to become empowered learners. Thus, this year’s demofest highlights the importance of pedagogical knowledge in teaching multiple literacies to students across grade levels in different subject areas whether in the formal or nonformal setting. RAP welcomes submissions of lesson plans and posters from different subject areas in any of the following strands:

Strands:
1. Environmental Literacy
2. Multicultural Literacy
3. Functional Literacy
4. Media and Digital Literacy
5. Critical Literacy
6. Information Literacy
7. Civic and Ethical Literacy

 

Demonstration Lesson Submission/Poster Presentation Guidelines:
1. Submission must include the following:
● Type of Presentation: Demonstration Teaching or Poster Presentation
● Strand
2. For Lesson Plan Submission
● Theoretical underpinning of the lesson which must not exceed 150 words (This presents the theoretical basis of the lesson – e.g., what theory/theories inform it; what makes it effective for the target learners; etc)
● Semi- detailed lesson plan which contains the following: title (preferably a catchy one and should reflect the strand and target participants); topic; objectives (affective and cognitive); and lesson proper (activities to be done e.g., prereading, during reading, and post reading activities)
● Selection/text used for the lesson (we promote the use of the Literature-Based Approach in teaching literacy). This should be separated from the lesson plan file.
3. For Poster Presentation**
 Theoretical underpinning
 A catchy title (reflective of the topic and target learners)
 Objectives
 Lesson Proper (learning activities)
 Name and contact details (to be included once the poster presentation is accepted). These are included so that interested readers may contact you when they have questions or would want to engage you in a discussion.

** Style your poster in such a way that it will clearly communicate its purpose to the intended audience even without engaging in a discussion with you. Hence, the content should be clear, concise, sharp, and compelling. Picture may be included but be mindful of the data privacy act specially of other information that you will include in the poster.

4. Format:
● Single-spaced with one-inch margin on all sides
● Font type: Garamond or Times New Roman; Font : 12
● Word file
5. Since the submissions are subjected to blind review, names or anything that will reveal the identity of the proponent/s should not be included. The name, affiliation, contact details, title of submission, and strand should be sent on a separate file.
6. Email Subject: RAP Demofest 2019_ Last name_First Name
7. Submit to rapnationaldemofests@gmail.com on or before September 30, 2019.
8. Notice of acceptance/rejection will be on or before September 30.

Registration for Participants and Demonstration Teachers
Early Bird Rates: (on or before October 15, 2019)
● RAP Members, DepEd Teachers : PhP 4,500
● Non-RAP Member : PhP 5,000

On-Site Registration:
● RAP Members, DepEd Teachers : PhP 5,000
● Non-RAP Members : PhP 5,500

Parallel speakers and undergraduate students:
 RAP Members: PhP 2,500
 Non-RAP Members: PhP 3,000

(The registration fee is inclusive of snacks, lunch, a kit, and a certificate).

Demofest participants will cover their own transportation and accommodation fees.
RAP members need to present their valid ID.
